The Great Pyramid Treasure Box Monday 9:00 - 4:30 $115
  Lynne Ann Schwarzenberg

Student Level: All
Type of Workshop: Project and Technique

The pyramids in Egypt held great fortune and have captivated us with their enigmatic secrets for millennia. In this class, students will learn to create their own Great Pyramid in the form of a hinged box that can hold their own mysteries and treasure. Built from a custom-made template, the construction of the box is made with a stiff armature, then it is covered in textured, stamped and antiqued or gilded polymer clay. Beaded embellishments or found objects adorn the outside. At first glance, the box appears to be a closed sculpture, but it holds a secret of its own…it is hinged, and once you know the secret of how to open it, you can stash your treasures inside…

Kit Fee of $16 payable to Instructor at class time includes: polymer clay, custom templates and armatures, cornstarch, antiquing medium and paint, adhesive materials, felt base, baby wipes, index cards, brushes and applicators, isopropyl alcohol, accent beads and embellishments, hinges, guilder’s paste, use of instructors’ stamps and texture sheets, and highly detailed written instructions

    Supply List:
  • clay blade
  • X-acto knife
  • pasta machine and c-clamp (if you have one…instructor will have a few available for use)
  • large ceramic tile or tempered glass sheet for a work surface
  • needle tool
  • roller or brayer
