This class will explore design elements and surface techniques for working with metallic foils and polymer clay. A variety of methods for creating patterns and specific forms will be learned including checker-boarding, swirls, spirals and more through a variety of blade, cutter and hand-forming techniques. Students will have a large range of colors to work with towards creating bright and bold or subtler metallic finishes. Options for creating a textured background will be reviewed. We’ll work with finished shaping concept based on template and free-form cutting options and finish with an elegant spiral suspension method. Samples of resin-coated pieces will be on hand to show as an optional finishing approach. Instructional handouts on working with clay foils will also be provided.
Kit Fee: of $8 payable to Instructor at class time includes: polymer clay, foil sampler, finishing wire
Supplies provided by Instructor: use of wavy blades, permanent markers, ball-tip styluses, adhesive, and mandrels for coil forming.

- Clay dedicated pasta machine and large “C” clamp
- a new/flexible clay blade (blades will be available for optional purchase before class)
