Small collages sell well, and to keep the paper cost low, we will make fabulous paper surfaces. We will then create collages using these papers. We will cover composition, how to use the 5 basic elements of design, the importance of layering and why using different weight papers is important to your original collages. Here is a description of those papers:
- Faux Parchment: a crisp translucent paper treated with heat, ink, and watercolor
- Silkies: deep stained, wispy paper, very delicate in the making
- Encaustic monoprints: thin bodied paper saturated with color wax
- Watercolor and wax: delicate, translucent, stamped, wax, and foil
- Opaque paper: random paints over text
Materials fee of $5 payable to Instructor at class time includes: watercolor and acrylic paints, assorted papers, the use of the encaustic tools, wax, sponges, white glue, 3 scissors and foils, (all to be shared) I will also show you how to make a negative stamp (yours to take home).
Supplies Provided by Instructor: paper towels, paper napkins, handouts and the use of rubber stamps, heat tool
Supply List:- ½- 11x15 sheet of cold press watercolor paper any brand (art store)
- UHU glue stic (optional I will have white glue)
- colored pencils
- watercolor markers (dollar store ok)
- scissors
- white grease pencil.
