Using the ATC format, participants will create a set of alphabet cards with a medieval theme. Design and decoration of a historical letter will be covered. Handouts will include reproductions from various manuscripts as well as alphabet exemplars. Illumination techniques - vines, checkered backgrounds, flat gold, and painting -- will be taught. Students will leave class with at least one finished card, and several more in process.
Kit Fee of $10 payable to instructor at class time includes: Handouts with color reproductions, card stock, mixing trays with gouache, transfer paper, gold leaf, alphabet stamps, collage elements

Pencil,
ruler
2 small watercolor brushes
gold twinkling H2O
black Pigma micron pen, size 005, or 01, or 02.
Optional:
other colors of Twinkling H2O's
colored pencils
stamps with a historical or Medieval theme and stamp pads
glue stick
collage elements (just a few!)
